The ballet classic Swan Lake from CU Ballet delivers magnificent choreography and a captivating story danced to the music of Tchaikovsky. Told in ballet and mime, the story centers around Prince Siegfried’s discovery of his true love, the swan princess Odette, who suffers under the spell of sorcerer Von Rothbart and by the deception of his daughter, the black swan Odile. Sets and costumes, colorfully detailed in medieval style, blend with the ethereal world of the white swans (in new costumes designed by artistic director Deanna Doty) to produce a visually stunning theatrical performance about the powers of magic, love, and fate. Lavish and deeply affecting, this timeless and beautiful ballet is a must-see.
