The Shoe Said Project
We are welcoming all sizes of gently-worn sneakers or running shoes that will be distributed by our partner organization, Share Your Soles, to communities in developing nations. Collection boxes will be set up in the Virginia Theatre’s East Lobby.
Everyone has a pair or seven of shoes sitting around at home, collecting dust, and our partner Mona Purdy of Share Your Soles really kicks all kind of butt when it comes to getting those donated shoes into the hands.. um, onto the feet.. of those most in need — from those in our own neighborhood to halfway across the world! (Which is a LONG way to walk.)
We have seen firsthand the effect and impact the gift of a good pair of shoes can be to someone who has gone without — maybe forever. Our team brought shoes with them to Haiti — and the smiles of the recipients are forever etched into our collective memory!
