Rated R (120 min) Based on the real-life love story between the film’s writer, Emily V. Gordon, and the film’s star, Kumail Nanjiani, The Big Sick tells the story of the pair falling in love but the struggles they face as their cultures clash. Emily eventually contracts a mysterious illness and Kumail is forced to face the differences between her feisty parents and his own family’s expectations, as well as follow his own true feelings.
