CHAMPAIGN – In accordance with new guidance from Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Champaign Park District is updating its policy on the wearing of face masks inside district facilities, including the Virginia Theatre, 203 West Park Avenue, Champaign, Illinois, 61820.
On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, Governor Pritzker announced that Illinois would lift its statewide indoor mask requirement effective Monday, February 28, 2022. The Governor also announced that mask requirements would continue where federally mandated, such as on public transit and in high-risk settings including healthcare facilities, congregate care, and daycare settings.
Therefore, beginning Monday, February 28, masks will be optional in Champaign Park District facilities, including the Virginia. Masks will still be required by the park district at its preschool and afterschool programs.
Patrons are still welcome to wear a face mask while at the Virginia, and the theatre will continue to provide complimentary masks to those who wish to wear them.
The Champaign Park District will continue to monitor the recommendations of federal, state, and local public health officials and will notify the public of any further changes to mask requirements in its facilities.
