The Champaign Park District has announced that, effective immediately, all individuals will be required to wear face masks while inside any park district facility — including the Virginia Theatre — regardless of vaccination status.
These measures were implemented after the CDC and Illinois Department of Public Health renewed their recommendations for indoor masking in all regions with substantial and high rates of transmission of the COVID-19 virus. As of July 29, 2021, Champaign County, Illinois’ rate of transmission was classified as substantial.
The Champaign Park District will continue to monitor local transmission rates and recommendations by public health officials and will update the public on any changes to the mask requirement.
All other existing Park District Covid-19 guidance remains unchanged.
