VIRGINIA THEATRE SUSPENDS ALL EVENTS THROUGH APRIL 30, 2021

August 14, 2020

Champaign, IL—The Champaign Park District announced today that it has suspended all public and private events at the Virginia Theatre, 203 West Park Avenue, Champaign, Illinois, 61820, through April 30, 2021. Many of the events originally planned for the fall of 2020 and winter and spring of 2021 are being rescheduled to future dates. For a list of event postponements, see below. Tickets to rescheduled events are on sale now at thevirginia.org or call the Virginia Theatre box office at 217/356-9063. Staff will continue to respond to calls, messages, and email inquiries from patrons, event planners, promoters, advertisers, sponsors, and others throughout the period.

Tickets to all events affected by the suspension (including 2020 Ebertfest festival passes) will be honored at their rescheduled dates. Any patron unable to attend a given event at its rescheduled date may request a full refund by contacting the Virginia Theatre. Patrons holding tickets to any event that has been cancelled without plans to reschedule will receive a full refund.

The decision to suspend all public and private events at the Virginia Theatre was made recently by the park district out of concern for public health during the novel coronavirus pandemic but also reflects the district’s priority to maintain good financial stewardship of the historic theatre and its programs.

The Park District will announce the Virginia Theatre’s 100th Anniversary Season for the years 2021 and 2022 in May of 2021, with events planned for September 2021 forward. For more information, visit the Virginia Theatre online at thevirginia.org or call 217/356-9063.
